How Journaling Helps to Release Your Stress

Have you heard about journaling? This activity has become one of the most popular activities these days. It is pretty much the same as writing a diary when you were a child. It is such a fun activity to do, isn’t it? When we have no one to talk to, our daily is the rescue. Day by day, we are getting used to writing our feelings and thoughts and pouring out our emotions onto that blank piece of paper. We are able to express ourselves freely in a small book, and no one can read it. They could if they would, but don’t you think it is just a matter of privacy. Just let us write what we want to write.

Journaling can act as a stress reliever.

Writing a diary helps us to release all of our thoughts and helps us to become less stressed. Journaling is basically acting the same. Did you know there are many kinds of journaling styles? You can pick one style as your new inspiration. Here are a few examples of them:

  • Dream Journal

This journal is more about listing down all the dreams that you had your entire life. For example, you write about your future job and what is going to happen to yourself in the next 10 years. Even you can just straightly write down about the dream you had last night because the dream just felt so good and real, and you do not want that to disappear from your memories. You can write it down by the bed as you try to recall what happened before. 

  • Gratitude Journal

A journal that helps you to focus on appreciating all the positive things that happen to you and explaining how grateful you are. You can write down all the things that you are grateful for, for example, how happy you are for having your friends and your family that always stand by your side no matter what happens. This type of journal will help you to focus more on the positive things and helps you become more empathetic.

This is the kind of journal where you can write anything about yourself in order to be able to get to know yourself better. Sometimes you might feel lazy and do not feel like you want to do anything because it just feels bland, and when you do it, it does not bring you joy at all. Writing a journal sometimes makes you feel so. The thought of needing to write a journal every day sometimes can make us a bit overwhelmed. Well, to make it less suck, you can start buying some cute stationery, stickers, or dried flowers to decorate your journals to make them look much prettier. It is also a way to release your stress by decorating your journals after you write them.

Be consistent

When you have already decided to get into journaling, you have to be consistent. Just start slowly. You can write some paragraphs that tell about how your day was going, how you felt at that time and many more in maybe just 10-15 minutes before you go to sleep.

Writes everything that comes to your mind

Just spill it out. No need to worry about anything. You are in your own state of mind, it is your own book, and no one is going to judge you. Just write everything and let it flow. You will then realize that some of your burdens feel like being taken out from your shoulders.
